Kashmir

Recently we had an opportunity to revisit Kashmir after almost 21 years. Kashmir - the valley which is surrounded by snow-clad mountains and which is showered with the bounty and the beauty of Mother Nature, which is known as “Heaven on Earth”.

This land - because of all this abundance - naturally gave birth to and nurtured the non-dual philosophy of Kashmir Shaivism, which expounds the ultimate knowledge of scientific spirituality. Ever since revelations of Trika Shaivism happened to me, I had been keen on visiting the great Kashmir Shaiva Master Sri Laxmanjoo Maharaj’s ashram at Srinagar where the Master stayed for most of his life and taught Trika Shaivism.

The Satsang Hall where Master talked ...

My dream came true when I reached Ishvar Ashram near Nishat Baug in Srinagar under odd conditions! There curfew was declared because of some untoward incidences of stone pelting and violence in the valley. Sri Mohanji Watal and Premnathji had been kind enough to take us to various parts of ashram.

As I was talking to the trustees of the ashram, Bharati took many pictures, especially the Shiva sutras engraved on the walls of the Sri Amriteshwar Bhairava temple.

I was keen on visiting Shiva Rock about which I had only heard that Shiva sutras are engraved on the rock and how they were reveled to the great Trika Saivism exponent Master Vasugupta, around 1500 years ago! But it remained a dream because of violence in that area.

My heart is bleeding…

While at Kashmir, what I saw is unbelievable and heartbreaking. This very land which gave birth to non-dual philosophy of Kashmir Shaivism to expereince the ultimate truth, is now infected with the seperatist activities. Groups of local people, shouting slogans at tourists "India Go back", "Go India Go", etc. While talking to villagers I came to know their agony because of poverty and how the recent events of violence have affected the daily wages of a common man which depends on tourism. The effects of this violence will be far and wide and military is definitely not the solution but unfortunately, government doesn’t have many options.

Who can see Kashmir, the face and the crown of Bharatmata being seperate from India? Feeling the heaviness in the environment of Kashmir Valley, my heart is bleeding….

Mother Nature has really blessed Kashmir Valley bountifully. Every flower speaks of it! Every bud is waiting to flower but it is under great fear of violence that can erupt any moment. The situation is similar to what it was before Kargil event. Today, India needs the leader, someone like Mahatma Gandhi who can move masses with the power of non-violence.

The peace is wounded in the valley...

Hatred can not be the answer to hatred but healing is! Violence can not be the answer to violence but compassion is! I request each and every one of you who may read this blog, please pray for the peace in Kashmir Valley, Bharatmata - my mother land and the people of Kashmir who are passing through very stressful situation. Most of the Kashmiri Pandits are now not staying in Kashmir and the situation is alarming for those few who are there. Kashmir is the place in which great masters of Shaivism expounded truth… this land needs compassion and healing touch on urgent basis.

  1. Namaste Guruji,
Thanks for sharing all this. Kashmir shaivism is really one of the most beautiful scripture for understanding the process of Evolution.

The situation in kashmir is really Heart breaking and we all should pray for their peace. All this is because of lack of understanding and awareness. People are not understanding their purpose of coming to planet Earth. Thanks a lot Guruji for being with us and guiding us.

It is said Kashmir is heaven on earth, after comming to Tao I understood the spiritual importance of kashmir, but today our heart bleeds to see its condition.
There is no political will of both the countries(India&Pakisthan)to resolve the issue,it is now upto the people of both the countries to bring peace to the region.
Thanks to Guruji for braving the bullets and visiting Kashmir and giving us such wonderfull insights.
    EVER NEW !!
    HAPPY YOU !!!

  3. When we allow ourselves to understand the impact our actions have not only on ourselves but the planet we live on, we realize the necessity to take loving action. We each have the power to correct conditions within as well as to affect the world we live in.

  5. I would love to see the Shiva Rock on which Shiva sutras are engraved. The ashram seems to be one of a kind.
I too felt the heaviness and the tension during my visit sometime back, specially when one sees bunkers laden with armor whereas in cities we see shopping malls. Its high time to do something about it. We can pray for saving our own heaven.

  11. Dear Guruji,
Your PPT on Bud to Flower was truly amazing. The very thought of flowering by inspiration from the enlightened one is comforting. It reinforces the importance of wise company, presence & blessings of guru for enlightenment.
My heart aches to see Kashmir being being torn apart, but your insight of 'the best spiritual upliftment happens in worst places/situation' was heartwarming.Pray that the turnaround happens soon.

    Thankyou Guruji

  12. Dear Guruji, Thanks for sharing your Kashmir experience. We pray for peace to prevail in Kashmir. Awakening of people is the only answer. Secondly, your presentation "Bud to Flower" was very good. The meaning which you gave it was truly nice. So much to learn from the simple process of the bud becoming a flower in spiritual terms. Only You can do it!! Thanks.
