Pranapat, Shaktipat, Shivapat – The essence of Kriya Yoga

Pranapat, Shaktipat, Shivapat – The essence of Kriya Yoga

We are almost hypnotized by modern medical science to think that we are physical body. But the fact is every human being is a seven body system. From gross to subtler to subtlest the sequence of these seven bodies is as follows: Physical – Etheric – Astral – Mental – Causal – Cosmic – Nirvanic. All these seven bodies are interwoven and it forms various ellipsoids around physical body which can be seen by a clairvoyant person and can also be photographed by modern Kirlian cameras. The second body which is touching the physical body is called Etheric body which is made of Prana hence it is also known as Pranamaya Kosha or Pranic Body. When we touch upon this body, we get the experience of Prana Shakti. This experience is known as Pranapat. "Pat" means "to fall on" or "Shower". Thus "Pranapat" literary means the flow of Prana falling on you! Some simple Kriya exercises when done properly can immediately induce this experience in a very simple manner. Guruji Prem Nirmal recommends "108 Healing Breaths Nirmal Kriya" which is simple to understand and easy to do to repeatedly create this magic of Pranapat on your own!!! Pranapat experience has many advantages such as healing of physical body, removal of stress, depression, anxiety etc.

When we develop our awareness of breath we can see that most of the time, one of the nostrils is dominant and the other one is slightly blocked. Left nostril is known as Ida naadi or Chandra naadi while right nostril is known as Pingala naadi or Surya naadi. Breathing through left nostril creates coolness in the body while breathing through right nostril creates heat in the body. When both these nostrils are perfectly balanced, it opens the middle path known as Shushumna naadi. When the Kundalini Shakti rises from Muladhara Chakra, it pierces other five chakras (Swadhistan – Manipura – Anahata – Vishuddhi – Agya) and opens the Sahashrara chakra. This free flowing experience of Kundalini Shakti is known as Shaktipat. Such Shaktipat experience helps to balance various hormonal secretions from endocrine glands which help to create holistic health. It also cleanses various subtle bodies and prepares a seeker for higher journey on the path to enlightenment. When we do the practices of super conscious meditations "Nirmal Dhyan" in the presence of an enlightened Master, Shaktipat happens on its own accord. You can create the magic of Shaktipat repeatedly, on your own, by practice of six steps of "Nirmal Dhyan".

When our subtle bodies are cleansed and the awareness grows further with deeper meditation, awareness expands on its own accord. This is thoughtless state of consciousness with expanded awareness. This is Shivapat. This is enlightenment. This is also the “Guru –Kripa”. This is a “Stateless state” in which Guru resides and by being with a Guru, a disciple who is ready for the higher journey gets a glimpse of it. For a disciple, it becomes Satori experience that motivates him to walk the path with greater confidence. Shivapat experience just happens by being with a Master! You can create this magic on your own by practice of sixth step of "Nirmal Dhyan" in Bhairav Mudra.

13 chapters of Tripura Rahasya repeatedly hammer home the same point, emphasizing the presence of the Master for such an inductive or synchronistic experience!

"You can’t borrow the truth from somebody. Anybody who has realized the truth can be at the most a guide to you but you have to search for your own truth only then you will be fulfilled. Otherwise in the midst of plenty that you have, you will remain hungry and thirsty in life" ~ Prem Nirmal

  1. Experience of Pranapat, Shaktipat and Shivapat are no more a mystery or a hypothetical phenomenon. Practicing Kriya Yoga under the guidance and presence of Guruji Prem Nirmal opens all 7 chakras and purifies 7 body system. 2. Today in the Kriya Dhyan session, we all could experience virtually the complete Ram Leela.

Shri Ram being our concsiousness, his reaching high awareness levels with the help of Pavanaputra Hanuman who symbolises Pranayam, Ravan - symbolising the Ego Mind - being overpowered by Shri Ram at these high awareness levels on the day of Dassera to rescue Sita - his energy - which was trapped in the Mind Patterns and Games. All this was not just a logical explanation of the symbology - it was the actual experience of every one who was fortunate enough to be present on this occasion.

So far we cherished the memories of the Ganesh Chaturthi day in the Aura Workshop in TAO when we had actually seen the Ganesh Eergy stationed in Muladhar. But today in the Kriya Dhyan session, we all could experience the virtually the complete Ram Leela.

Shri Ram being our concsiousness, his reaching high awareness levels with the help of Pavanaputra Hanuman who symbolises Pramayam, Ravan - symbolising the Ego-Mind, being overpowered by Shri Ram at these high awareness levels on the day of Dassera to rescue Sita - his energy - which was trapped in the Mind Patterns and Games. All this was not just a logical explanation of the symbology - it was the actual experience of every one who was fortunate enough to be present on this occasion.

Considering that for majority of the people who were present, this was the first introduction to anything spiritual, it was certainly nothing short of a Miracle. But then what has been happening in these Kriya Dhyan sessions that have been organised to give experience Pranpat-Shaktipat-Shivapat since last couple of weeks, everything has been miraculous. The only qualification of the beneficiaries being that they were lucky to be present in right place at the right time - everything else was the grace of Guruji.

  3. The Grace of Gurumandala is being experienced in Mimbai and Thane during the Satsang sessions conducted by Guruji since last few days. The grace was always experienced in Tao by Tao members but now it is simply showering even in all the Satsang sessions being conducted in the houses of all those who are willing to take the initiative and host such sessions.

Absolutely new people, who feel like asking all different types of questions when the session begins, find their itching mind quietened because Guruji is not only answering the question but directly healing the questioner as well.So while guiding the group in doing Kriya - dhyan and taking to a level of heightened awareness the questioning mind itself is quiet. The meditation just happens.

The real meanings of festivals like Dashahara and Navaratri given by Gurumaa Bharati were amazing pointers for understanding of the great scriptures like Ramayan and Mahabharat.
The meaning of Raam ,Seeta and Hanumaanji was actually experienced.
We are really blessed to be a part of this.
    Tremendous Gratitude is experienced !

  4. Pranapat-Shaktipat-Shivapat - these were always considered major events in the life of lucky few after they went through long and rigorous spiritual practices. However in the Kriya Dhyan sessions being conducted by Shri Prem Nirmal Guruji, every one present experienced these irrespective of their background or expertise.

The way the questions were answered, not only the doubting minds but the entire being of the questioner was satisfied. The great scriptures like Ramayan and Mahabharat no more remained just mythological stories, they became conveyors of ultimate spiritual truths which were experienced by all those present.

Simply unbelievable events, may the benefits of these be available on larger scale to everyone all over the world.

  5. After taking 108 breaths and sitting into meditation I experienced vibrating or throbbing feeling at my nose region and face region. This feeling is called the experience of prana (energy of the body). Every time one does any sort of Kriya one experiences this which is called as pranapat. After having the experience of the prana slowly we have to be the witness of our breath. Now what is the new term called “witnessing breath”? Here one has to focus on the breathing process and just experience the inhalation and exhalation process or one should know that he/she is breathing. In this process I felt that every molecule of oxygen was entering into my nose then further into my lungs and this feeling was amazing. I felt very enthusiastic while taking each breath. After witnessing the breath we have to witness the thought process. Here I was very vigilant and watchful of every thought which enters into my mind. I actually felt that thought was entering into the mind and was going out. After this process we have to move one step further that was to catch the gap between the two thoughts. Gap here means the period between one thought which moved out of the mind and another thought was about to enter. I experienced this for some time as one really needs to become master to gain control over each and every thoughts entering and to catch the gap. Here one has to come out from the flow of the thoughts and watch vigilantly with aloof attention. After this process one has to become fully aware of ones prana, breath and thought process. In this process I was aware about prana, breath and thought all at one time. And one magical phenomenon is that if we increase our awareness during this process, automatically our witnessing of prana, breath and thought increases or expands. Awareness is the tool through which one can go further ahead in witnessing but that is not enough! “Sandhikaal jagran” and to become aware of it is the way for break through. Now what is Sandhikaal jagran? This means to catch the gap between inhalation and exhalation and to become aware of this witness of gap and stay in this state for longer period. This experience is called Shakti path. During this process I experienced the gap and I was aware of this, but again for this one really has to gain mastery and it comes by practicing every day. So I experienced this for very little time. After becoming aware of witnessing the gap for longer period, witness itself dissolves and only one thing remains that is “Full awareness”. This is called expanded awareness and one has to stay through out the day 24 x 7 and this is called Shiva path. Beyond this comes multi dimensional awareness that is during any kind of work we do, this state (full awareness or expanded awareness) should be there. So in the end I would like to suggest that every one has to take this experience and taste the divinity and you will surely enjoy. This experience is different which is a blissed state (aanand hi aanand).

Here are 6 stages of meditation -
    1. Experiencing Prana.
    2. Witnessing breath.
    3. Witnessing thought.
    4. To be Aware of thought, breath and prana.
    5. Sandhi kaal Jaagran – witnessing the gap with full awareness.
    6. Expanding this awareness (expanded awaress).

    Shivoham ...

  6. If you really want to know the Miracle of 108 breaths and what it can do to your Body-Brain system and to your Subtle Bodies you must attend Kriya-Dhyan-Satsang by Guruji Brahmarshi Prem Nirmalji.

Throughout my life, I always wonder whether it is possible for masses to experience the ultimate truth experientially. All the books I read tell that it is for some courageous few and not for all. But after meeting Guruji, I got the solution of my question. I attended Kriya-Dhyan-Satsang by Guruji along with 100 people and everybody went so deep into Meditation and had first hand experience of Pranapat, Shaktipat and Shivapat. This is the first time in my lifetime where there was no imagination in Meditation, where there was no visualization in Meditation but I had first hand experience of what Meditation is. Everyone felt so energetic and self healed and their faces were glowing after 1 hour Meditation. Irrespective of whether you have meditated before or not, irrespective of whether you know about meditation or not, everybody went so deep into Meditation and had Expanded Awareness Experience(Shivapat) along with Shaktipat and Pranapat. It was purely Gurukripa, where only criteria from your side is to be present in that auspicious field and you should be breathing. So if you really want to know Experientially what is Shivapat, what is Shaktipat and what is Pranapat you must attend Kriya Dhyan Satsang.

Really really Grateful to Shri Mahavtar Babaji, Brahmarshi Prem Nirmalji, Gurumaa and the whole Gurumandala for their blessings.

  8. Pranapat-Shaktipat-Shivapat
These three words sound so very mystical and we think that this can be experienced only by those who are very advanced spiritually. But Guruji Prem Nirmal has broken this myth. Pranapat, Shaktipat and Shivapat can indeed be experienced by anybody when it is learnt systematically and Guruji does precisely that in three hours time. First the mind is quietened by answering the questions and now the ‘I’ is prepared for the new learning.
Another myth broken by Guruji is that Kriya are just breathing exercises. He beautifully explained that just as Yogasanas are just one limb of Ashtang Yoga so is the case with kriya. Kriyas are much more than breathing exercise. It is a process of enlightenment. This is not merely a statement. Through the kriya-dhyan-satsang programs one can experience all these three. Irrespective of our spiritual growth and status, every person who makes himself or herself available for sure experientially understand what Pranapat-Shaktipat-Shivapat is.
    Thank you so much Guruji.

  9. Got opportunity to attend the program kriya dhyan satsang by Prem Nirmal Guruji.

Session started with the question answer, guruji addressed the various questions of the audience. Infact truly speaking it were not the answers but the solutions to problems asked. Solutions were spontaneously came from guruji & were very precise, very easy to perform, specific to problem. The correct understanding of science behind solutions were also imparted & that was standout point. We always think our problem is too big & solution will be very complicated, but this myth was broken by guruji, as common sense solutions were given & they worked like magic.

Guruji then introduced & demonstrated 108 healing breath nirmal kriya followed by Nirmal dhyan. Kriya produced tremendous prana shakti called pranapat. Meditation took me to the levels where I actually felt very peace, silence & bliss within. This experience made me to realize that bliss is within & you don’t have to go outside running for it. This simple Nirmal dhyan is repeatable & reproducible at home by following the steps.

When I see this 3 hours of my life I realized how much I have experience & understanding I have gained. When we calculate return on invested time it was thousands of folds. This will be life changing experience for any one who attends it.

    Gratitude to Guruji & guruma.

    Salient standout points for me:
    1.Meditation experiences
2.Bliss felt by every one present there.
3.Satsang was just not oneway talk or bhakti & bhajan but actual interaction with people & giving simple solution to their problems.
    4.Scientific & systematic approach.
5.Such a great experience & understanding at free of cost.

    Gratitude to Guruji & Guruma.
